Oxford Student

cincinnati fashion blog ohio style Lookin’ stern, peepin’ in ur windose

So, one of my favorite thrift finds OF ALL TIME is this blue Ralph Lauren boy’s oxford shirt, which I wear with pretty much any and everything. The color is neutral without being boring (it sort of looks like denim), the fit is perfect (apparently I’m built like a 12-year-old boy–but you already knew that, didn’t you?), and it responds well to collar-popping (I’m a child of the ’80s, sue me).

I like to wear it to tone down the girly-ness of pieces like this full skirt, but it works with menswear-inspired looks as well. I feel like I need at least three more of these shirts!

What about you? Do you have a favorite, wear-with-everything item?

I also LOVE Oxford shirts. I could wear them all the time.

I love this color combo! My all-time favorite item (though not thrifted, but I waited it out til it was 75% off) is an Old Navy cotton linen dress in cream, kinda umpire, very loose and still Gap quality- It’s OLD 😉
I wear it all year long. It’s so roomy and versatile with it’s spaghetti straps!
    (My Mom hates it,LOL!)

I have been thrifting lots of men’s shirts lately as well. They are longer and slimmer!
I did just snag a silk, true pink R Lauren shirt that may be my latest fav.!

One thing I’ll say about Ralph (or his designers) is that he understands how to cut a shirt!

Thanks! It was a birthday splurge a few years ago and it’s still one of my favorites.

I love the combo and love that you found the shirt while being thrifty. I once found a long plaid wool RL(I think that was the brand) skirt at our local thrift store and I was in heaven. I went in looking for something for a costume to only come out with a skirt I wore every week. My husband thought I was crazy, but I loved it and it was a must have for me.

Don’t you love when that happens? I’ve gotten more wear out of some of my “costume” pieces than I have from some so-called basics.
