Wish List: Dark Heat

2 Comments 26 May 2011

I know early summer is the time for bright colors and airy textures, but I’m in the mood for all things dark and mysterious right now. From abstract prints and muted tones, to gold accents and sleek surfaces, this is what’s currently on my wish list:

1. Fornasetti Sun chair, $3336 2. Morgaine Alexandra cuff, $75  3. Michelle Armas Ochi print, $20 4. Aminaka Wilmont dress $414, 5. Mi Piaci Gina bootie, $250 6. Nikkor 18-200VR lens, $850 7. Skull-encrusted triangle bag, approx. $52 8. Philippe Jean bronze sculptural lamp, price upon request  9. GMG Harness-knitted jumper approx. $470 10. All Saints Zoraida trouser, $250

Tumblr Tuesday: Cardboard cameras and cake art

No Comments 24 May 2011

Something about this look at the Miss Unkon show feels perfect right now; A single flower bathed in light has a very calming effect; The idea of a (non-working) cardboard camera is oddly intriguing; This is clearly the most realistic clock EVER; I’ve always been partial to this Julian Louie x Aldo collection even though I couldn’t find it locally; Clearly, I’m not the only one who believes that cake = art.

Tumblr Tuesday: Crocheted bike cozies and rainbow cupcakes

Count me in for a crocheted bike cozy; I love when rainbow-colored paper fish swim through the air; Lifesaver lipstick and cherry candy are enough to send me on a sugar high; Colorful nebulae bring out my Trekkie tendencies; Rainbow cupcakes are God’s sweet promise of peace; I NEED to flit around on the beach wearing a colorful headwrap thanks to this spread in Vogue Russia.

Quite a few dubloons

2 Comments 25 February 2011

It’s quite sad that a good 80% of my appreciation for art, film, and culture in general always comes back to “Yeah, but what are they wearing?” Having said that, looking at the works of artists like Gainsborough and van Dyck makes me want to dress like a 17th century Lord Sir Duke Marquis de Kerfuffleplump.

Gainsborough, van Dyck, van Dyck. The dudes in the last painting are wearing wedge-heeled boots with the tops folded down…very Vivienne Westwood!

I am now officially on the hunt for silk pantaloons and a matching cape.

Until then…

Vintage jacket, shoes, and earrings, Forever21 trousers, thrifted blouse and belt

Haveth thine self a bonny week-end, madame gentlewoman!

With love,

Little Lady Fauntleroy

Sampler Weekend

11 Comments 13 April 2010

Last weekend, I decided to take advantage of the gorgeous weather and take some pictures. I’m still learning this whole photography thing…

Beau seemed to think I was doing okay. “I’ll watch from the window,” he said.

On Saturday morning, I got up and made breakfast for the first time in…hmm…what year is this?

Mmm, grilled cheese with smoked gouda and jack, and tomatoes and basil. I always add a touch of basil to my grilled cheese.

Later, I decided to hit Findlay Market for some fresh fruits and veggies.

At the market, I pretended to inspect the fruit as if I knew what I was doing. I didn’t.

I did know what to do when I got hungry, though:

The ribs from Ms. Helen’s Grill were fantastic–tender, juicy, and just spicy enough to make your nose run. The mac and cheese had a smooth, rich flavor and tasted like actual cheese. Ms. Helen put her foot in it for real!

Later, Emily and I headed over to Bromwell’s Gallery (where the Stop Traffick photo shoot was held) for Alison Shepard’s “Our Beauty Flows Like Water” opening.

I hung out on the fire escape while Jim Tarbell played the harmonica, and Emily checked out the artwork with 3-D glasses.

There was a really lovely breeze out there.

Ol’ Tarbell actually sounded pretty good!

The art changed from fluorescent pink and orange to bright blue and green with the glasses!

Beau was waiting for me when I got home.

“You know it’s past my dinner time, right?”

Right.

What did you do last weekend?
