Easter Style: Suited Up

Suit and clutch, vintage; necklace, local designer Nomad; shoes, Guiseppe Zanotti

I’m back from a much-needed break, hoping you had a lovely Easter/vernal equinox/whatever you celebrated. Time with my family + marshmallow Peeps = a great time for me!

Pictured above:ย  this year’s Easter suit, which is really just a vintage suit from the 80’s given to me by a former co-worker who would regale me with stories of strutting around offices (when smoking was allowed indoors!) in miniskirts and sky-high heels, 9 to 5 style. Of course, at that time, the Easter suits I was wearing looked more like this:

Oh, how I disliked that outfit at the time (sorry Mom)! Yeah, it was cute, but my two-year-old self thought it was too matchy-matchy babyish. I remember thinking I wanted to break out in something more badass–a crinoline skirt and lacy leggings, or aย sparkly dress and heels–you know, something Whitney Houston or Jody Watley or the Solid Gold dancers ( I was so going to be a Solid Gold dancer–note the American Apparel worthy “outfits“) would have worn.

I’ve been on a sartorial roller coaster ever since. When did your ride start? What did you want to wear when you were little?

Killer necklace! And shoes, of course! I was just watching “Working Girl” the other day and was chuckling to myself over the power suits AND smoking in the offices ๐Ÿ™‚ Too funny.
You look great, but seriously, what’s new?
