Caribbean Queen
Reading about everyone’s tropical vacations this summer when the furthest I’m destined to travel is Northern Kentucky (which yes, is just as exciting as it sounds. As in not at all.) has been a bit depressing. I like hot weather and beaches and drinks with umbrellas in them, too!
One third of my prayers was answered when it got up to the 90’s this past weekend, so I decided to look on the bright side and do it up tropical style my darn self. There’s nothing wrong with pretending every now and then, right? I paired this brightly colored parrot-print skirt with a military-inspired bustier and ate all the ice cream I could handle.
Vintage skirt and jewelry, Grey Ant bustier, Ash sandals.
If you’re stuck wherever you are too, you can still shop tropical:
Left to right: Gucci, Spring 09; Dress, Forever21; Romper, Topshop; Stella McCartney Jumpsuit, Farfetch; Vintage kimono dress, Posh Girl Vintage. Now we’re sharing the same dream…
If you’re going somewhere warm/beachy/just plain fab, tell me so I can live vicariously through you. Thank you for your consideration.

You know you need a vacation when…

August 10, 2009 at 8:44 amYes honey, a vacation is sorely needed. I think I’ll make a tropical cocktail and listen to Jimmy Buffet in my living room. That’s as close as I can get. Love those sandals, btw!

August 12, 2009 at 10:37 pmSkirt is definitely tropical – and deserves a vacation with you in the Aruba! Your shoes and top(s?) give more of a femme gladiator effect – I’d luv these two with white capri leggins. Girl, YOU style anyway!
