Don’t Call it a Comeback

Man, I’ve missed this. I’ve missed you! I don’t really enjoy writing (ironic that I do so much of it), but I recently realized how much I like blogging. I think it’s the feedback and sense of community, in addition to the fact that sometimes it feels really good to get it all out, you know?

I regret that I’ve been so bad about posting–that was partly because I’m a master procrastinator, but mostly because I’ve been extremely tired lately.

For one, taking care of Cortez (kitty) in the final weeks of his life took a toll on me. I’m so sad to say that I had to have him put to sleep last Tuesday, which was extremely difficult since he was my baby for almost 14 years. It was time, and I know I did the right thing.

Tezzie didn’t go out like no punk, though! He stuck it out much longer than expected and surprised me, FriendBoy, and the vet. He even managed to make it to the door to greet me the day before he died, weak and tired as he was. My stubborn and demanding little furball was a fighter! I’m so grateful for those last few weeks, and will always cherish the extra time I had to say goodbye and thank him for all the couch-cuddling, face-pawing, kitty-talking (seriously, the most talkative cat I’ve ever encountered), ankle chasing, catnip crazy furry-love over the years.

He also happened to be the best alarm clock/wake-up call ever:

Rest in peace, my sweetie.

In other happenings, I managed to find two locally based editorial assistants to help out with the Style Sample magazine and site (woo-hoo!). I hope to be able to expand once we all get in the swing of things, and I would love to be able to work on SSM more…it is hard work, but I enjoy it so much that it barely feels like it!

There’s plenty more that I’ll share in the next few weeks–I finally feel like I’m open to sharing and ready to be a part of the world again. If you’re still reading or care even a little bit, thank you.

So…What have you been up to?

Looks like he was a gorgeous kitty. It’s so sad when you have to say goodbye to a beloved friend (or child) after they’ve been with you for so long. Hope you’re doing ok.

My heart is aching for you right now. I couldn’t imagine having to go through that…and since my Mocha is around 12, this hit me like a ton of bricks. I’m so sorry, T.

BUT I’m so happy to see you back on your blog!!! Missed you gul! And nice move on finding assistants. We can’t have you stressing out over there.

Oh, I am SO sorry about your cats. I have two fuzzballs myself and I don’t know what I’ll do when they die (of course, one of them is less than a year old and the other one is maybe a year and a half tops, so hopefully that will be a LONG time coming!). Lots of hugs.

I haven’t been up to much, just enjoying the end of summer/early fall cool down here in Austin. So much better than 105 temps every day! Glad you got some editorial assistants, that should make your job a lot easier. 🙂

I’m so, so sorry to hear about Cortez. That video is priceless and he seems like a really, really cool cat. That just sucks. I hope you can find peace with everything sooner rather than later.

Glad to have you back, though! Can’t wait to see the future of SSM!

Welcome back. Our stylings haven’t been the same without you. I understand how hard it is to put down a beloved Pet.

I was wondering why this site wasn’t being updated… then when I read about your kitty, I almost cried for you (as terribly … cheesy as that sounds). I’ve had my dog for about 7 years now, and whether it’s cat, dog, etc. a pet is a beloved pet, and I’m so sorry.

Also, thanks for sharing the video. Cortez is hilarious.

Here’s to much peace and love!

Yeah….that’s unbelievably sad. Cortez was really cute, thanks for sharing that video, and for being brave and self-less enough to make that hard call of putting him to sleep:(

Upward for you lady! You have assistants now, that’s what’s up! Glad to see you are back to work on what you like most. Great things to come I’m sure of it. Be at peace, and always thankful to be in love, while you are in it.
