Oxford Student
Lookin’ stern, peepin’ in ur windose
So, one of my favorite thrift finds OF ALL TIME is this blue Ralph Lauren boy’s oxford shirt, which I wear with pretty much any and everything. The color is neutral without being boring (it sort of looks like denim), the fit is perfect (apparently I’m built like a 12-year-old boy–but you already knew that, didn’t you?), and it responds well to collar-popping (I’m a child of the ’80s, sue me).
I like to wear it to tone down the girly-ness of pieces like this full skirt, but it works with menswear-inspired looks as well. I feel like I need at least three more of these shirts!
What about you? Do you have a favorite, wear-with-everything item?

September 30, 2011 at 4:29 pmI love this color combo! My all-time favorite item (though not thrifted, but I waited it out til it was 75% off) is an Old Navy cotton linen dress in cream, kinda umpire, very loose and still Gap quality- It’s OLD 😉
I wear it all year long. It’s so roomy and versatile with it’s spaghetti straps!
(My Mom hates it,LOL!)
I have been thrifting lots of men’s shirts lately as well. They are longer and slimmer!
I did just snag a silk, true pink R Lauren shirt that may be my latest fav.!

October 2, 2011 at 7:20 pmI love the combo and love that you found the shirt while being thrifty. I once found a long plaid wool RL(I think that was the brand) skirt at our local thrift store and I was in heaven. I went in looking for something for a costume to only come out with a skirt I wore every week. My husband thought I was crazy, but I loved it and it was a must have for me.

October 2, 2011 at 9:52 pmDon’t you love when that happens? I’ve gotten more wear out of some of my “costume” pieces than I have from some so-called basics.
