Going on a Style Tour!

As I mentioned a few weeks ago, I’ve been trying to think of a way to help Dress for Success Cincinnati, and decided to combine it with something I’d already been thinking about.

I love to shop, but spend way too much time doing it online (where it is darn convenient, I grant you), and not enough supporting local independent boutiques. I realize that all spending in a down economy helps keep people employed, but it’s nice to know where–and to whom–my money is going.

30 boutiques in 30 days!

So, in the spirit of supporting DFS and the local economy I’m working on a project called Style Tour! The goal: hit 30 boutiques in 30 days!

Awareness, donations, and a shopping guide

I’d like to collect clothing, encourage donations, and generate awareness for DFS. I’ll also post about each boutique on the tour–the vibe of the shop, my favorite items in the store, styling tips, and plenty of pictures–and create a mini shopping guide for local boutiques! I’ve had several visitors ask me about the best places to shop, and frankly, it’s been a while since I bought anything locally.

I need your help!

If you’re in the Cincinnati area, I’d appreciate your support–if you have suggestions for shops to visit, want to join me on a tour stop or two, or even just post something on your blog or site, please get in touch!

Great idea! The end result sounds like the section in Lucky Magazine where they list really cool places to shop for clothes, accessories, housewares, beauty products in a particular city. Extremely useful in planning a trip to the area and you’re supporting a great cause. Good luck!
