Current Obsession: Sailor Stripes

Technically, this isn’t just a current obsession since I always love a good Breton top, but  feverishly wishing for Spring while acknowledging that it’s only 33 degrees necessitates compromise. I appreciate the way stripe-y boatneck tops feel carefree and preppy (like Spring) and can still serve as a great layering piece under three sweaters and a coat when Winter refuses to exit stage left.

Splendid Nautical stripe top, Bicyclette.ca; ; Post Match top, Anthropologie; Sonia by Sonia Rykiel sailor sweater, Farfetch; Striped shirt, Zara

It’s not a new trend by any means:

Mlle. Chanel wore them, Jean-Paul has always loved them, and I wear mine regularly*. It’s one of those things you can throw on and it always feels right. How do you wear your stripes?

*Did you see how I threw myself in there with Coco Chanel and Jean-Paul Gaultier? Ahahahaha! *wipes tears* That was a good one.

I love stripes! Found a shirt with pink breton stripes at Old Navy, it was awesome. Sadly, I didn’t try it on and it fit kinda awkwardly… 🙁

Sigh. That’s the thing about Old Navy–the ideas are cute, but the execution can be an issue.

Love your outfit in the bottom right – you look super chic. Just found your blog tonight – really nice to find another Cincinnati Fashion blogger.
