Current Obsession: Pocket Squares and Menswear

I’ve always loved menswear, but only in the context of how I would wear it, forget about actual menfolk. But since it’s now my job to style both men and women, I’m discovering the joys of mixing and matching patterns and textures in men’s fashion! Perusing Pinterest and GQ and Third Looks is a favorite pastime, and I’m not gonna lie: looking at pictures of pretty boys with great style is a BIG part of this newfound interest.

One of my favorite “discoveries” is the almighty pocket square–there are so many to choose from! They always seem to add just the right amount of extra to any look, be it quirky or classic. Let’s put pocket squares in ALL THE POCKETS!* If you’re in the market, I like the selection at 45/46 , Artfully Disheveled, and Hip to Be Square.

*Who do I need to talk to about making sure pockets are part of every article of women’s clothing? I hate not having pockets so this needs to happen, like STAT.

A gorgeous brooch or fanciful chiffon flower could be our version of a pocket square. Or even combine them, maybe? You’re the expert.

I DO like the idea of pinning a brooch to a pocket with a pocket square.

I guess pockets are kind of like handbags for men? They can store things and add a little flair. 🙂

Yeah I guess pockets work for men because they don’t have to carry as much stuff! Makes me wonder how many manbags would be out there if men wore makeup…

I’m a big fan of the urban dandy way Chuck dressed on Gossip Girl. I’d totally wear a pocket square!
