Bucket Bags

Confession: I’ve been carrying the same (huge) faux ostrich shoulder bag for a few years now. While I love it for its ability to hold a wallet, work files, several pairs of sunglasses, lunch, a camera, a pair of shoes, a snack, a random sock(?), and the 17 lip glosses that always seem to wind up rolling around the bottom of my purse by the end of the week–all while looking fabulous–it’s gotten to be a bit much. I need something smaller to compensate for my lack of self control.

Enter the bucket bag, a roomy yet not-quite-luggage-sized option that’s big enough for the necessities but small enough to keep my pack rat tendencies in check. It’s trendy and classic, and one of the few bag styles missing from my accessories arsenal. A few of my favorite options for Fall:

MARC BY MARC JACOBS ‘Metropoli’ Leather Bucket Bag • Marc by Marc Jacobs • $278
Neiman Marcus Faux-Leather Bucket Bag, Bordeaux/Wine • Neiman Marcus • $39
Barneys New York Jessica Mini Bucket Bag-Black • Barneys New York • $119
Neiman Marcus Sierra Faux-Leather Bucket Crossbody Bag, Red • Neiman Marcus • $36
Halston Heritage Colorblock Drawstring Bucket Bag, Bone • Halston • $192
See by Chloe Vicki Vachetta Bucket Bag, Nougat • See by Chloe • $395
