4 things: Lace-up booties
Sometimes I dream up these grand fashion fantasies wherein I fixate on one item that I think will change my life. I imagine that this perfect blazer/shoe/pair of jeans will enhance my entire wardrobe and it’s Definitely Worth Buying because I’ll Wear It All The Time!
Street Peeper, Stylesightings, Copenhagen Street Style
This week (yes, this happens quite regularly), it’s lace-up booties. Seeing these chunky-yet-seasonally-appropriate babies in numerous fashion shows and street style photos makes them seem like a logical investment for strutting around in the cold. They’re warm! They have a lug sole! They’re practical! For walking! In snow!
1. Pour la Victoire, Urban Outfitters; 2. Aldo Lecaros; 3. Steve Madden Cadette, $170; 4. Sam Edelman Vancouver, Endless
Whenever I start convincing myself something is practical, it’s almost certain that no good can come of it. But since I’ll probably buy some anyway just for giggles, which ones do you think I’d get the most wear out of?

January 5, 2011 at 10:37 amLove lace up boots! 2 or 3 definitely. I think snow ruins suede.

January 5, 2011 at 11:17 amI’m partial to #2. The brown is really nice and the heel isn’t scary tall. I love this style, but every time I try it on, I feel like I look ridiculous!

January 6, 2011 at 12:33 pm@a stylized hysteria I’m sure you look fine! I think I understand, though– sometimes if I wear really TALL shoes, I feel silly at first.

January 5, 2011 at 4:21 pmFrom a strictly practical perspective, I would go for the leather instead of suede since suede is not water/snow friendly and shoes dirt more. If I had to pick I would go with #2.
By the way, I too have weekly/daily fixations in which I think said item will complete my life/wardrobe. I obsess about it and then after I get it I usually move on to something else. On the occasion that I let it go and choose not to get it, I usually end up thinking about 3 months later that not getting it was a damn good idea. Right now I am fixated on tunic length sweaters/sweater dresses. Part of me wants one, but part of me says no.

January 6, 2011 at 12:26 pm@Kerr YES! It’s got to be a combination of OCD and the thrill of the hunt, because as soon as I’ve acquired my “prey” I love it for a week, then forget it and move on. Surprisingly enough, the world doesn’t come to an end if I don’t get it. Go figure.

January 5, 2011 at 6:17 pmI love them all! But I’d say #2. Love the color, love the heel height and the ribbing around the ankle looks super comfy and warm!

January 7, 2011 at 12:25 amI have to pick #3. #2 is a close second but I feel like I’ve seen them A LOT. #3 is simple but has the awesome accent on the front. The heel (which I am completely partial to) is just right. The shoe seems to have a great grip and it’s the perfect netural shade. Go with #3 🙂

January 10, 2011 at 9:45 pmBased on your following post, I would recommend instead of any of the above, the Doc Marten Diva “Darcie”. http://www.dmusastore.com/p-3344-darcie.aspx (No, I am not affiliated blah blah.)
I now have two pairs of these (well, actually I’ve got one Darcie, and one pair of the taller, patent Dees) and even though the heel is high, they are without a doubt the most walkable heels I own. All day strolling around the city? No problem! Running for a bus? Sure thing. They even beat my previous candidates, a pair of Fluevog Mini heels, for comfort and stability. And of course, they look awesome, and come in many stunning colours.
