I Kissed a Girl (Stingray) and I Liked It
After months and months and several forevers of working with nary a break, I finally took a few days off to relax. On Grand Cayman Island!
It was 85 and sunny every day, which made for good times napping on the beach, shopping in George Town, touring the island, aMAHzing snorkeling (thriving coral! barracuda sightings!), and relaxing in the hotel’s hot tub every night. Seriously, EVERY NIGHT. I need a hot tub, y’all.
Sunset from the patio at Casanova Italian Restaurant
The turtle family at the hotel’s turtle lagoon; a roadside shoe tree
A male blue iguana at the Botanical Gardens. He was partial to eating flowers and seemed way too interested in my toes!
Birds of paradise–of both the floral and poultry variety
A traditional Cayman lunch of dolphinfish (aka mahi-mahi, just as tasty as it was in the Philippines), beans and rice, plantains, and breadfruit
The crowd at Stingray City, a sandbar in the middle of the ocean where hundreds of stingrays congregate to be fed by (and kissed by) tourists. The stingrays are NOT shy, and will brush up against you like cats to beg for food!
I’ma need one of these million-dollar oceanfront homes so I can park my boat (oh yeah, I need a boat, too) at my backyard dock.
I took the trip with my mom, who is not only the best mother EVER, but also my favorite traveling companion. From Hawaii to London to the Caribbean, we’ve been exploring the world together for years!
Happy Mother’s Day, Queen B!
