Fashion Week Faves: NY Fall 2012

So far, Autumn/Winter 2012 fashion is shaping up to include the usual leather, dark colors, and beautiful coats that seem to appear every Fall. Color blocking is still a thing, though it’s been one-upped by pattern blocking–combining multiple prints and patterns–and it looks like pops of bright color (including Spring’s tangerine shades) and quirky ironic sweaters will be around for another season or two. Some of my faves from the NYC runways: Definitely enjoyed...

Blue Star

Every year when the temperature dips below 50, I look forward to wearing these pants. I’m not sure why–something about the combination of high-waisted seventies goodness and plush blue velvet intrigues me. Vintage trousers and shoes; Polo boy’s oxford; VS tee; thrifted scarf Is it just me or does the front of my hair bear a strange resemblance to the Chrysler Building here?

Ask T: How Do You Get the Clothes for Magazine Pictures?

Time for another round of “Ask T”! This is not so much a styling question as it is a stylist question: Hi Tamia, I really like your work in A-Line magazine!  I’ve always wondered how you get the clothes for photo shoots. Do you have to buy a bunch of stuff? If so, who pays for it and where do you keep it? ~K Hi K, I’m freelance, so I usually pitch an idea...

The Red Skirt Diaries

I’m still working on adding color to my wardrobe, and right now I seem to be obsessed with bright bottoms like this red skirt and those green jeans. I’m pretty proud of myself for (mostly) sticking to my palette! H&M sweater; Forever21 skirt & earrings; Jessica Simpson Boots; eight sixty striped top. Who says I’m not a mallrat? Sometimes I have to laugh at myself, because anyone who’s ever taken self-portraits in public knows it...
