If you've been reading for a while, you've probably noticed that every season I decide on a look. This is both for fun and practical purposes: thinking about fashion is as natural as breathing for me, and making lists of things is 100% my jam. Plus, it's fun to editorialize your own wardrobe every now and then, and having a set aesthetic makes shopping--and NOT shopping for things that don't fit--that much easier.

A few weeks ago, my friend Josh Anderson (you remember him from the podcast, right?) reached out with an interesting concept for a photo shoot: ballistics and martial arts. Josh likes weird stuff, and after years of styling relatively tame editorials for a mainstream audience, it was fun to push the boundaries a bit.

One sunny Saturday morning, the Thread Cincinnati babes headed to Premium Outlets for an early shopping spree. The team at Simon (which owns the outlet) had invited us for mimosas and shopping, and we were more than happy to oblige!
J. Crew and Nine West were sweet enough to open early for us, and we spent some time browsing for cozy fall sweaters and chicover-the-knee boots before I made a beeline for the BCBG Factory Store

A lot of creative types claim they don't enjoy planning, but gathering inspiration is one of the best parts of the pre-production process, I promise.
When I'm producing photo shoots, putting together the creative direction is not only fun, but useful: it helps me hone in on a vision, acts as a trigger for new ideas, and provides examples of lighting and composition, which make it much easier to communicate with the client and crew. Thank
