Tumblr Tuesday: Book Tornadoes and Blonde Brownies

I feel like if I could just take a nap in this bedroom I'd wake up more sophisticated by osmosis; A tornado of books is the very thing my 5th-grade self (bookmobile, anyone?) dreamed of; I love the feminine details on these otherwise traditional trousers; Lace-on-lace just seems so right; I had my first blonde brownie about a month ago and I've been craving more ever since; This functional Nintendo controller/coffee table is awesome, but

Current Obsession: Liberty Print Dunks

You guys! How come no one told me these Liberty x Nike trainers existed? I'm in LURVE! I've been skeptical about the whole wedge-sneaker thing since Isabel Marant started the trend (will we just look back on these with shame, the way I look at the platform Skechers I had to have after seeing Mya's Moving On video back in the day?) but my mind is now CHANGED. My obsession with them is bordering on

Tumblr Tuesday: Ornate Leather and Heart-y Charms

Apologies for the prolonged absence! Here's what's inspiring me right now: I really think my entire life would be better if I could lounge in this room for a day or twenty;  I've really been craving a ridiculously ornate leather skirt; 3-D floating type makes me so happy; Ever since I made a clay sculpture of a heart for 8th grade biology, I've been partial to "true" heart shapes like this necklace; combining typography and art

Flower Power

Whenever I try to Tyra-stare it comes out like this. Oy. Please note that I am fully aware that I'm too old to wear a poufy floral mini skirt, and that I know in my heart of hearts that this is NOT 1988 which means poufy floral anything is a no-go. Just let me have this one, mmkay? Forever21 floral skirt (similar style here); Gap sweater (similar style); thrifted blazer; Colin Stuart boots (similar here).

Tumblr Tuesday: Red Velvet Cake and Liquid Table Lamps

The weather is juuuust cool enough for a faux fur vest so I'm taking full advantage of it; I'm not particularly fond of red velvet cake, but LOOKIT THAT ICING; Love letter shelves = fun furniture for word nerds; I did a double take before I realized the lampshade for this liquid table lamp was NOT, in fact, suspended in midair; A YouTube flashback led me to the video for "The Boy Is Mine" and

Tumblr Tuesday: Spiked Brick and Ankle Cuffs

Heat sensitive tile would make my bleary-eyed morning showers so much more entertaining; God bless whoever thought to turn a hole in a brick wall into a spiky gold mini-cave of tough chic;  Since I've been experimenting with my nails, I'm kind of getting into the idea of matching them to my outfit; I love that this fiery painting evokes a visceral emotional response, just the way art should; I don't know exactly where this

Attention Platforms: This Has Gone Too Far

What's with all the extra-exaggerated, extra ugly platforms these days? Wouldn't these sandals be cuter and more practical with a few inches chopped off the bottom? Platforms by ugly shoe god Jeffrey Campbell, Topshop Are people no longer driving, where you need to feel how much pressure you're putting on the pedals? Are people not walking down stairs, where it's helpful to feel when your foot hits the step so you don't tumble to your death, Talky
