Quite a few dubloons

It's quite sad that a good 80% of my appreciation for art, film, and culture in general always comes back to "Yeah, but what are they wearing?" Having said that, looking at the works of artists like Gainsborough and van Dyck makes me want to dress like a 17th century Lord Sir Duke Marquis de Kerfuffleplump. Gainsborough, van Dyck, van Dyck. The dudes in the last painting are wearing wedge-heeled boots

6 Favorite Street Style Blogs

The Internet serves us in many ways: it's home to a wealth of information (just Google it), it's a way to connect with people around the world (social networks!), and it's a repository for ignorance (YouTube commenters). One of my favorite perks of all this newfangled technology is the ability to virtually people-watch stylish folks around the world--aka cruise Street Style blogs*. Everybody knows about The Sartorialist and Garance Dore

Tumblr Tuesday: Ubes and Afros

Pastries made with ube, a yummy, sweet purple yam I came to appreciate during my trip to the Philippines; a wolf that could only exist in a dream; the view from some lucky heffa's person's Paris apartment; a shimmering watercolor 'fro, loving the type treatment in this magazine layout; oversized rings made out of purple rocks are right up my alley.

H&M blazer & jeans, Leigh & Luca scarf, vintage boots, bag, belt, and beret.I spent the weekend working, pretending to be a Parisian cowgirl, making individual barbecue chicken & mushroom pizzas, working, reading two very interesting yet very different books, feenin' for Easter candy (when can I get some Peeps, peeps?), and working. How was your weekend?

Fashion Week Faves (NY)

The fun thing about Fall Fashion Week is that it takes place when the weather is still cool enough to wear--or at least be inspired to wear--clothes that are currently in season. A few of my favorite trends: I'm uncharacteristically into color--reds, yellows, greens, maybe even a blue or two. No more Less gray, please! I wear solid colors (gray and black count as colors, right?) a good 80% of

4th Street Finds

I've worked with the Dress for Success 4th Street Boutique before, most notably on Style Tour and the Christmas window (I heard the Art Museum might use the long red Mandarin Jacket from the window in some sort of exhibit!). A while back, the latent editor in me came up with the idea of 4th Street Finds, an online mini-magazine of sorts showcasing the best of the boutique! Each week, Susi and

Red, no pink

Even though red is officially my Second Favorite Color, I don't own much in the way of red clothing. Weird. So when Susi at the 4th Street Boutique (we're working on a special project I'll post about later!) pointed out this bright orangey-red skirt, I tried it on and immediately fell in love. It's long! It's made of cozy felted wool! It has pockets!*I don't really do all-out holiday theme
